Getting there	Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center, off Lincoln Boulevard at the southeast end; Muni 28 stops at the toll plaza, and there is paid parking on both sides
Hours	East sidewalk, pedestrians: 5am to 9pm during daylight saving time, 5am to 6:30pm November through March. Automatic gates, so the times are exact — check goldengate.org the morning you go
Tickets	Free to walk. Tolls are southbound only and all-electronic, so a rental car crossing north to south is billed afterwards
Best time	Early morning for clear air, or late afternoon in summer to watch the fog come through the gate
Accessibility	The sidewalk is flat, paved and step-free for its full 1.7 miles; the Welcome Center and its parking have accessible spaces
